She has recorded a solo CD 'Light Divine' produced by Colin Mawby with Richard Lewis and is published by Kevin Mayhew.

She has worked as a pastoral musician in the Diocese of Middlesbrough since the late 1970's to encourage both young musicians and singers in their parish music groups , and also, assisting with liturgical music for the mass in various parishes around the Middlesbrough Diocese. Although Val currently plays and sings on a regular basis in several parishes in the central parishes of the Middlesbrough Diocese, she is based at her home parishes of Sarcred Heart parish and Holy Name of Mary in Linthorpe and was a member of Bishop's Council for Liturgy for the Diocese of Middlesbrough for five years.
