When you think of Berkeley California you may get an image of hippies and free love, but towards the cities southern border with Oakland lies an urban jungle plagues with violence, drugs, and prostitution. It is from these streets that rapper Souf B. Souja learned life and music. With a father in jail and a mother struggling to support her family on her own, Souf B. Souja was forced to the streets to help support his family. These life changing decisions put Souf B. in and out of jail throughout his teenage and young adult years.

S.B. Souja began writing poetry at age 10 and with the influence of Too Short, Mac Mall, and Tupac, he combined his poetic gift and musical talent. At age 17, Souf B. Souja formed the rap group G.S.W. The group experienced moderated local success performing at a number of Northern California venues and went on to sell hundreds of copies independently.

Souf B. Souja honed his rapping skills after G.S.W.’s breakup and continued his passion for music as a solo artist. Currently, Souf B. Souja is touring Northern California promoting his self titled debut album, which is due out in late August, 2010.
