Back in 1995 my now defunct band “No Paddle Creek” were finalists at the Gympie Country Music Festival - “Country Rock”. We went on to peform at many shows, supporting many major acts, and not so major acts. Truth be known we would play at the opening of a cornflake box if asked. We just wanted everyone, and their dog to hear us.

Then of course the band imploded as many bands do. A catalyst was my brother Mark’s illness that we now feel we can talk about – something or other which I can’t spell without a medical dictionary. Mark was in fact close to death. He is now fine and wants to play in my band in whatever form that may take.
The highlight of my on and off career was playing shows with non other than Slim Dusty and Smoky Dawson in a concert series entitled “Legends of Country”. I was kind of hoping to become a legend myself ..... LOL
So here I am in 2009 and will put another band together and hope to get back on the road . A little older and hopefully a little wiser.
Because I felt I was having such bad luck keeping a band together, any of you out there who have tried to get four musos turning up at the same time on any given night for rehearsals, with no real money involved, and no drink rider (free grog) know exactly what I’m talking about.... I invested in a semi professional home studio.
Two years in the making, my studio has been a joy. A sometimes lonely endeavor but truly a rewarding one artistically, nothing but country music 24/7. I can play drums at 3am in the morning if I choose, though I’m usually in bed by 10pm at the latest. I often quip I’m the only musician who can’t stand loud music, late nights or drinking too much – go figure!!
So as I gained proficiency with the recording process I started writing for publishing, songs for other people. But as I rediscovered my confidence I began thinking “I can do this again for me”. I play all the instruments on the roughs, studio speak for demos. I then bring in a drummer and my brother Mark on electric guitar and pedal steel for what you hear on these songs.
Just as soon as I can afford it, I’ll get a real producer, but for the time being I’m enjoying the journey and hope to help other aspiring country artists. I believe my studio and my experience could benefet them at least on what not to do.... LOL
I hope you consider my songs and add to your collection as my overall catalogue of recorded material grows. It may be great, or take a dive.... either way its real music played by real people who love country music.
