I have played piano for almost 60 years and it has given me great personal pleasure.
Although I had some classical training I was and remain more interested in the work of popular pianist.
Those who were popular from about !947 onwards influenced my playing, Winifred Attwell Joe Henderson, Russ Conway come to mind together with those of previous eras e.g Scott Joplin,Charlie Kunz,
Billy Mayerl.
Only in 2010 did I decide to try composing and I am entirely self taught.
My 2012 OLYMPICS RAG was inspired by the 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES
but has no connection whatsoever with the games organisers and is not endorsed by them.
It draws on the techniques of Russ Conway and Scott Joplin,in a small way reflecting the multicultural nature of the games and the East End of London where I lived my first 15 years. It is my celebration of the most memorable event in the area since the World War Two Blitz in 1940.
The syncopations reflect the competative tensions and uncertain nature of the sporting events.
I have no wish to perform live concerts apart from the performances I give from time to time in local old people's care homes.
I simply hope my music may reach a few people who will enjoy it.
Whilst I play a lot of covers it is my intention only to make my own compositions available on Rmusic. This is in order to avoid the hassle
associated with copyright law.
My piano is a Roland FP2 stage piano, and all the recordings are home produced by me.
